What Is Glutathione?

Glutathione is an endogenous tripeptide made from three amino acids: glutamate, cysteine, and glycine. Unlike many compounds discussed in peptide protocols, it is not a synthetic signaling peptide. The body already produces it naturally, primarily in the liver, and every cell contains it.

Glutathione is the most abundant intracellular antioxidant in the human body. It exists mainly in two forms: reduced glutathione (GSH), the active form, and oxidized glutathione (GSSG). When GSH neutralizes reactive oxygen species, it becomes oxidized. Glutathione reductase then recycles it back into the active reduced form using NADPH.

The cysteine residue contains a sulfur-bearing thiol group that gives glutathione its electron-donating ability. Through this chemistry, glutathione helps neutralize free radicals, recycle vitamins C and E, support Phase II liver detoxification, maintain immune-cell function, and protect mitochondria from oxidative damage.

It supports detoxification, liver health, and helps reduce oxidative stress, especially during heavy peptide or GLP-1 use. Many users also notice brighter skin and a general sense of better energy and recovery over time.


Effects tend to be subtle for some people but meaningful for others who are running multiple compounds or dealing with higher stress loads. It’s simple and effective as daily support. Quiet but important addition that we keep in rotation. Low drama with decent upside for overall wellness.


One thing worth mentioning is that it can be spicy — some users experience stinging or burning at the injection site.
