A quick reference for protecting dry lyophilized powder, reconstituted vials, and BAC solution from avoidable degradation.

Compare against the compound’s normal appearance. If anything looks or smells unusual, do not try to rescue the vial.
Unexpected heavy cloudiness, flakes, or visible floaters are reasons to discard.
Unexpected yellow, brown, or otherwise altered color can indicate degradation or contamination.
Any unexpected smell is a warning sign. Do not use a questionable solution.
Extended time outside the recommended range can shorten stability even when the solution still looks normal.
Compound Notes
Some compounds need a shorter window or different handling than the general rule. Product and supplier instructions still take priority.
Use within 7 days. Store in a room-temperature dark cabinet.
Unbuffered: use within 2 weeks after reconstitution. Buffered: use within 4 weeks.
A slightly milky appearance may be normal. Unexpected particles or heavy cloudiness are not.
More fragile after mixing. Use within approximately 3–4 weeks.
Sensitive after reconstitution. Keep refrigerated and use within 3 weeks.
Prone to gelling. Reconstitute using part acetic acid and part BAC water.
Core Storage Rule
Dry powder stays cold for longer storage. Reconstituted solutions stay refrigerated and protected from light. Never freeze after mixing, label every vial, and follow compound-specific or manufacturer guidance when it is more restrictive.
