What Is a Peptide COA Grade?
A COA Grade is a standardized assessment of the testing evidence a vendor makes available and the strength of the trail connecting that evidence to a real laboratory, a relevant product, and a current batch. The grade rewards consistent, traceable, independently verifiable testing and identifies meaningful gaps without treating absence of evidence as proof of product failure.
What a Peptide COA Grade Does Not Measure
The grade is designed to make vendor testing programs easier to compare. It looks beyond a headline purity percentage and asks whether the available evidence is relevant, complete enough to interpret, consistent over time, and capable of being corroborated. It is not a laboratory result, pharmacy credential, regulatory approval, product endorsement, or guarantee about the contents of the next vial shipped. A high grade means the vendor presents a stronger testing trail under the Peptide Protocols framework. It does not eliminate uncertainty.
What Peptide Protocols Evaluates
Each vendor is reviewed against the same evidence categories. The exact scoring weights and internal decision rules remain proprietary, but the underlying questions are not secret.
- Identity: Does the report support that the submitted sample is the compound claimed?
- Purity: Is chromatographic purity reported with enough context to interpret it?
- Quantitative content: Was peptide amount measured rather than inferred from purity?
- Safety-related panels: Are applicable tests reported separately?
- Batch relevance: Can the report be connected to a current product or lot?
- Testing depth: Is there meaningful evidence beyond one favorable certificate?
- Sampling strength: Where disclosed, were one or multiple vials tested?
- Consistency: Is there an observable testing pattern across products and time?
Separate tests answer separate questions. Identity does not establish quantity. Purity does not establish sterility. A comprehensive testing program recognizes those distinctions.
How We Verify Peptide Laboratory Reports
Anyone can place a laboratory name or logo on a document. Our review therefore examines the laboratory and the report as separate evidence objects.
- Confirm the laboratory’s identity. We look for a functioning business presence, consistent contact information, and a testing scope that matches the report.
- Inspect report identifiers. Report, sample, order, or verification numbers should be present and internally consistent.
- Review the stated methods. The analytical method should make sense for the claim being made.
- Match client and sample details. The vendor, compound, strength, lot, and dates should form a coherent record when disclosed.
- Verify independently where possible. We use laboratory lookup systems, verification links, public archives, or direct confirmation rather than relying only on a vendor-hosted copy.
- Record unresolved limitations. Evidence that cannot be independently verified does not receive the same confidence as provider-verifiable evidence.
How Missing Testing Affects a COA Grade
Missing evidence is not automatically evidence that a product failed testing. It does mean the claim cannot receive the same credit as a current, traceable, independently verifiable result.
The framework distinguishes between negative evidence, missing evidence, and evidence that cannot be sufficiently connected to the vendor or batch. Those are different conditions and are treated differently.
- One excellent report does not establish catalog-wide consistency.
- An old report does not necessarily describe a newly sold batch.
- A vendor-hosted PDF is weaker than a record that also resolves with the issuing laboratory.
- A purity-only report leaves identity, quantity, and safety-related questions unanswered.
- When evidence is too incomplete to support a defensible score, the directory may show Incomplete rather than forcing a grade.
How COA Scores Become Letter Grades
Vendor testing evidence is normalized to a 100-point scale and displayed with a familiar letter grade. The bands make the directory easier to scan; the numerical score preserves more detail within each band.
A letter grade is a summary, not the evidence itself. Readers should still inspect the vendor profile, testing program, assessment date, and limitations relevant to the product being considered.
Why the Exact Scoring Formula Is Proprietary
We publish what the system examines, how reports and laboratories are validated, how grade bands work, and what the result cannot prove. We do not publish every component weight, threshold, or internal decision rule.
That boundary is intentional. A fully disclosed formula would make it easier to optimize documents for points without materially improving the underlying testing program. The goal is to reward credible, repeatable evidence—not teach vendors how to manufacture the appearance of completeness.
How Affiliate Relationships Are Handled
Peptide Protocols may earn compensation when readers use certain links or discount codes. Those relationships do not increase a COA score, change a letter grade, excuse missing evidence, or prevent a grade from being reduced when the testing trail weakens.
Promotional placement, pricing, discounts, fulfillment speed, customer service, and community ratings answer different questions. They are intentionally kept outside the COA grading calculation.
How Often COA Grades Are Updated
Testing programs change. Vendors add laboratories, publish new batches, expand safety panels, remove archives, or change how reports are verified. A grade should therefore be read together with its assessment date.
Peptide Protocols may update a grade when materially relevant evidence becomes available or an earlier record is corrected. Vendors can submit additional documentation, and readers can report discrepancies. New evidence is evaluated under the same framework; it does not receive automatic credit merely because it was submitted.
What a COA Grade Cannot Prove
Even an A-grade testing program does not prove:
- The identity, purity, or quantity of a vial that was not tested.
- That the batch delivered to a customer matches a published report.
- Sterility, endotoxin, heavy-metals, or residual-solvent status when the relevant current test is absent.
- That storage, handling, packaging, or transit conditions preserved the sample.
- Regulatory approval, legality, medical suitability, or safety for human use.
- Future fulfillment quality or long-term business reliability.
The grade is a due-diligence and comparison tool. It reduces a complex testing trail to a consistent starting point, but it does not replace reading the evidence or understanding its limits.
