What Is Prostamax?
Prostamax is a synthetic tetrapeptide composed of lysine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, and proline. Its amino-acid sequence is Lys-Glu-Asp-Pro, which is why it is also called the KEDP peptide in research literature.
It belongs to the broader family of short peptide bioregulators developed and studied primarily by researchers associated with the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. Its developers describe it as prostate targeted, but tissue specificity and clinical benefit have not been validated in humans.
Prostamax is distinct from animal-derived prostate extracts that contain mixtures of peptides. Evidence from those extracts should not be treated as evidence for the defined synthetic KEDP sequence.
Prostamax Benefits
The compound-specific prostate evidence comes from two experimental rat models. These findings support a biological research signal, but they do not establish symptom relief, prostate-volume reduction, urinary improvement, or disease prevention in humans.
Chronic Prostatitis Model
In rats with induced chronic aseptic prostatitis, Prostamax reduced prostate swelling, vascular congestion, and lymphoid infiltration relative to untreated controls.
BPH Model
In a sulpiride-induced rat model, KEDP reduced lateral-prostate mass, volume, and epithelial area. This was an animal experiment, not a human BPH trial.
Tissue Remodeling
The prostatitis model also reported less collagen accumulation and fewer sclerotic or atrophic tissue changes after treatment.
Chromatin Research
Small laboratory studies of human lymphocytes reported changes in chromatin condensation after KEDP exposure. The clinical meaning of those ex vivo findings remains unknown.
