The big boys will be able to absorb those additional costs no problem. The small boutique vendors or the small RUO vendors just getting started and no customer base are going to have their margins eaten.
TrustPointe + Res Labs partnership: NFC tags linking COAs directly to vials
TrustPointe Analytics announced a partnership with Res Labs aimed at improving COA control and traceability in the peptide space.
How it works:
A vendor submits a batch to TrustPointe for testing (HPLC/MS for identity, purity, potency, etc.).
If the batch passes, the vendor can order Res Labs NFC tags through TrustPointe.
The tags are applied to the vials.
A buyer taps the physical vial with their phone and gets a verification page showing the specific batch record tied to that exact TrustPointe COA.
The idea is to bind the lab result to the actual vial rather than relying on a PDF or website link that can be copied or applied to a different batch. Res Labs has been working on NFC-based authentication for this purpose (similar to how some luxury brands use NFC tags for product verification). TrustPointe has noted a few controls, including that the tags represent a real cost and that they can deactivate a vendor’s tags if abuse is found.
This doesn’t solve every quality issue in the research peptide market, but it directly targets one of the common problems: not knowing whether the vial in your hand actually matches the COA that was posted.
